Viking helped create the professional-style home range, and its heavy stainless ranges and rangetops remain a common choice in Evergreen mountain homes where cooking for a full house is part of the point. A Viking Professional range is built like commercial equipment: heavy burners, a substantial oven cavity, and simple, robust mechanicals. That build quality is why so many older Viking units are still in service, and why they are usually worth repairing rather than replacing. The flip side is that Viking cooking equipment is diagnosed by symptom rather than by a long code list, so it rewards a technician who knows the platform.
We service the full Viking cooking and refrigeration range. A gas oven that will not light, a burner with a weak flame at altitude, or a door that no longer seals are all faults we handle routinely. We diagnose to the root cause, give a written estimate, and repair with genuine OEM parts under our warranty.
Models We Service
- Professional ranges: VGIC, VGCC, VDSC and current Professional and 5 Series ranges.
- Rangetops and cooktops: gas rangetops, sealed-burner and electric cooktops.
- Wall ovens: gas and electric single and double wall ovens.
- Refrigeration: Professional built-in and freestanding refrigerators and freezers.
- Dishwashers and hoods: Viking dishwashers and ventilation.
Error and Fault Codes
Most Viking Professional ranges and cooktops do not publish a numeric fault-code list, so they are diagnosed by symptom. Some newer electronic ovens can show a service indicator, but the dependable path is to test the igniter, element, sensor and controls directly. We use a symptom-to-cause approach:
| Symptom | Likely Cause | What the Fix Involves |
|---|---|---|
| Gas oven will not heat | Weak bake igniter | Test igniter current, replace the igniter |
| Burner weak or uneven | Clogged ports or altitude setting | Clean the ports, set for high altitude |
| Oven runs cool | Sensor drift or door seal | Test the sensor, replace hinges and gasket |
| Refrigerator warming | Defrost or sealed-system fault | Test the defrost circuit and sealed system |
| Burner clicks, no light | Wet cap or spark module | Dry and reseat, replace the module |
Common Problems We Fix
- Gas oven that will not light from a weak igniter
- Burner with a weak, lifting or uneven flame
- Oven that runs cool from a worn door seal or drifting sensor
- Spark igniter that clicks without lighting the burner
- Refrigerator that will not hold temperature
- Oven door hinges and springs that have failed
- Simmer burners that will not hold a low flame
- Control and thermostat faults on electronic models
Altitude Note
Viking gas burners and ovens need to be set for high altitude in Evergreen. A unit brought from a lower elevation, or one that was never adjusted, often lights slowly or burns unevenly until it is tuned for the thin air.
