Repair Guide

Wolf Burner Will Not Light

A Wolf burner that clicks but will not catch, or lights on some burners and not others, usually comes down to the igniter, the port, or the gas supply. Here is how to read the signs.

When a Wolf sealed burner will not light, the first thing to listen for is the spark. Wolf dual-stack and standard sealed burners use an electronic spark igniter that clicks rapidly when you turn the knob to Lite. That click tells you a lot. Steady clicking with no flame is a different problem than no click at all, and each points somewhere specific.

IF It Clicks but Will Not Catch

Clicking means the igniter is firing but the flame is not establishing. The usual causes are a burner port clogged with spillover, a burner cap seated crooked after cleaning, or a weak gas flow. On the high country ranges we service, a cap knocked slightly out of position during a wipe-down is the single most common reason one burner stops lighting while the rest work fine. Lift the cap, confirm it sits flat and square, and check that the igniter tip is clean and dry.

IF It Clicks on Every Burner at Once

When one knob makes all burners click, moisture has usually bridged the igniter switch, often after a big cleaning or a boil-over. Drying the cooktop and letting it sit can clear it. If the constant clicking continues after everything is dry, the spark module or a burner switch is failing and needs replacement.

IF There Is No Click at All

No spark points to power, the igniter, or the switch. Confirm the range has power and, on dual-fuel models, that the oven and electronics are alive. A single dead igniter is a common wear part. If nothing clicks on any burner, the spark module or its wiring is the likely fault.

Safe Checks Before You Book

Turn off the burner and let any clicking stop. Make sure the burner caps are dry, flat and centered on the base. Clean crusted spillover from the port slits with a straightened paperclip, not a toothpick that can snap off. If you smell gas that does not clear, shut off the range, ventilate, and call for service before using it.

Why Does My Wolf Burner Keep Clicking After It Lights?
Continued clicking usually means moisture on the spark switch or a cap sitting slightly off. Dry the cooktop and reseat the cap. If it keeps clicking with everything dry, the switch or spark module is failing.
Can I Clean the Wolf Burner Ports Myself?
Yes. With the burner off and cool, clear the port slits with a straightened paperclip and wipe the cap. Avoid anything that can break off inside a port.
Is a Yellow Flame on My Wolf Normal?
A steady blue flame is correct. A persistent yellow, lazy flame can mean a mixture or orifice issue, which matters more at altitude, and is worth having checked.
